Ever wanted to ‘have a go’ at polo but didn’t know where to start?
Now’s your chance! We are delighted to offer a ‘Learn to Play Polo’ 3 day package for anyone that wants to try this fun, fast and exciting sport.
Based from the beautiful estancia, the package consists of 3 consecutive half days on the polo ground, where you will be introduced to the basics of the game – the shots, the rules and of course the play, all on our wonderfully kind and forgiving horses.
The package is designed as an ‘add-on’ to our normal estancia stay, and is therefore charged as a supplement to the standard rates (to be paid locally).
What’s included?
3 half day sessions on the polo ground, comprising ‘stick and ball practice’ and practice chukkas with 4 – 8 players, all horses, grooms and equipment (see additional notes below) & tuition
Conditions and general information
- This polo package is available to any number of guests, and is not dependent on numbers to run
- Available all year round
- The package must be reserved at the time of booking in order to ensure availability, but is payable locally (in cash only) on arrival at the estancia
- There is a strict maximum weight limit of 14 stone
- The package is designed to run over 3 consecutive half days, and so guests only staying for 3 nights will need to arrive in time for an afternoon session on their first day, or leave in the afternoon on their last day to enable time for a morning session
- The package is aimed at newcomers to the sport of polo – more experienced players should consult in advance
- The package is available to any standard of rider, although those riders who are secure in the saddle at all paces will gain the most out of the tuition
- Guests must have their own personal insurance that covers non-professional polo – your hosts will ask to see copies of your insurance policy
It should be noted that polo is weather dependent. If the ground is too wet to play, an alternative ride will be offered, and where possible the sessions will be made up by playing twice per day. If no polo is played, then obviously no charge will be made.
Guests should bring:
- their own hard hat
- a pair of light riding gloves
- suitable footwear (riding boots with a heel) and half chaps if wearing short boots
