Hiking in Chile is adventurous and awe-inspiring. Our Chile treks cover two of Chile’s most spectacular areas – the Atacama Desert and Torres del Paine National Park.
Chile is not just a land of contrasts, it is a land of extremes. This skinny slither of a country stretches almost 4300 kms down the coast of South America – the top basking in tropical heat, while the icy tail shivers just short of Antarctica. Nowhere else can you stand in the world’s driest desert, gaze at snowcapped peaks, and then turn your head to see the Pacific ocean. Pass ancient forests, rich vineyards and fertile valleys, and explore shimmering lakes, immense plains, exquisite labyrinths of fjords, islands, and milky-blue glaciers.
Atacama Desert
Stretching 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) from Peru's southern border into northern Chile, the Atacama Desert rises from a thin coastal shelf to the pampas—virtually lifeless plains that dip down to river gorges layered with mineral sediments from the Andes. The Atacama Desert is the driest and oldest deserts on earth, and a challenging hiking location. Our Atacama Desert Trek is an excellent opportunity to explore this stunning desert location.
Torres del Paine, Patagonia
Torres del Paine National Park in southern Patagonia is a wonderland of craggy, granite peaks, snow clad mountains, glacier-fed lakes, waterfalls and rivers, pampas and thick Magellanic forests, meadows, forests and no matter where you look, fantastic scenery. Hidden Trails Torres del Paine trek is a hiking expedition into the unspoiled heart of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
