This hiking trip offers the unique experience of discovering three countries in one week: Austria, Italy and Slovenia.
Experience an exciting and easy hiking trip in impressive mountain and natural landscapes characterised by the three cultures of the countries. The start is in Villach, Austria. In Italy you walk through a small part of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. This is characterised by the Carnic mountain group of over 100 km in length, between the catchment areas of Drau, Gail and Tagliamento, and the Julian Alps, which are the border between Slovenian and Friulan language area. A highlight of the tour is certainly the Italian pilgrimage town of Monte Lussari. No less impressive is the Slovenian part of the hiking tour, as it leads to the Triglav National Park and the fashionable ski resort of Kranjska Gora - also known as the Kitzbühel of Slovenia.
The hike runs along marked mountain and hiking trails. The tour is suitable for anyone with a good basic condition.

Description
Accommodations consist of a mixture of guesthouses and 3 star hotels offering private bedrooms with ensuite facilities.
Local tax
Some cities charge a tourist tax. These taxes are not included in the sale price of the tour and must be paid directly by you at check-in or check-out at the hotels.
This fee varies depending on the hotel category, the season and the number of days of stay. It is usually between 1 and 5 € per person per night.

Day 1: Arrival in Villach

Overnight in Villach
Day 2: Loop to Feistritz an der Gail
You start the trip in the lively city center of Villach but a short bus ride takes you in the middle of nature in Rosstratte. You then walk to the Dobratsch, Villach’s landmark mountain beloved and treasured as a local recreational area by the city’s inhabitants. Enjoy the magnificent panorama! The Dobratsch Nature Park - covering 7250 hectares and lying in the middle of Carinthia‘s idyllic lake landscape - is made of forests, mountain pastures, rivers and the high mountains create a habitat for a vast number of plants and animals.
Ascent: approx. 210 m / descent: approx. 110 m / approx. 5-6 hours

Overnight in Villach
Day 3: Villach to Camporosso
A transfer takes you to the starting point of your trip at the Feistritzer Untere Alm. Today your tour leads across the border to Italy, mostly through untouched natural landscape with beautiful views of the Dobratsch and the idyllic Gailtal valley. This mountain range is characterised by a beautiful alpine landscapes. On the descent you will soon see the church of Camporosso, today‘s stage destination.

Day 4: Monte Lussari Loop
Today‘s round trip takes you to the famous Monte Lussari, which has always been the destination of many pilgrimages by Italian, Slavic and German believers. The experience is rounded off with a breathtaking view of the entire mountain range of the Julian Alps, skilfully staged in front of the terraces of the inns.
Alternatively, you can take the cable car from Camporosso to Monte Lussari (ticket not included) and then easily return to the starting point.
Ascent: approx. 960 m / descent: approx. 960 m / approx. 4-5 hours
Alternative with cable car: ascent approx. 0 m / descent approx. 975 m / approx. 2.5 hours

Overnight in Camporosso
Day 5: Camporosso to Kranjska Gora
Transfer in the morning to the starting point of the tour. At the foot of the mighty Mangart Group, you will hike to the White Lakes (Laghi di Fusine), small and fascinating lakes formed by glaciers embedded in a dense spruce forest at the foot of the mountain Mangart. Depending on the season, enjoy the fascinating reflection of the surrounding mountains. Through wide plateaus, wet meadows, peat bogs and pine forests, you walk over the Italian Slovenian border to the famous ski resort Kranjska Gora.
Ascent: approx. 300 m / descent: approx. 230 m / approx. 5 hours

Overnight in Kranjska Gora
Day 6: Rest day or roundtrip around Kranjska Gora
Today you are free to explore the surroundings of Kranjska Gora - also called the Kitzbühel of Slovenia - or to enjoy a rest day. There are plenty of opportunities for smaller and larger hiking tours around this chic place. It is the gateway to the famous Triglav National Park, around Slovenia‘s highest mountain.
Ascent: approx. 310 m / descent: approx. 320 m / approx. 4-5 hours

Overnight in Kranjska Gora
Day 7: Ratece to Villach
From Kranjska Gora a short transfer will take you to the stage starting point. You hike past the Techantinger & the Mallestiger Mittagskogel down to Faak am See. The lake is the ideal place to cool off and relax after this scenically
breathtaking tour. From Faak am See you will take the train back to Villach.
Ascent: approx. 890 m / descent: approx. 1250 m / approx. 6 hours
