Join this weeklong journey across the southernmost territory of Spain and Europe, from mountains to sea.

The Campo de Gibraltar is a region that sits at the border between two continents: Europe & Africa. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. 

During this tour, you will hike through two different natural parks:
- Los Alcornocales National Park (also nicknamed the last European Forest) houses the best preserved and continuous mass of European cork trees.
- The Strait of Gibraltar National Park is home to hundreds of millions of birds during their migratory trips between Europe and Africa.

Night 1-3: Hotel Montera Plaza in Los Barrios
Night 4-5: Hotel Meson Sancho in El Bujeo    
Night 6-7: Hotel Tarik in Tarifa 

Hotel Montera Plaza in Los Barrios
This modern hotel offers comfortable accommodations. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, a TV, a safe, a balcony, free Wi-Fi and private facilities.
The hotel also has a small garden and a pool where guests can relax.

Hotel Meson Sancho in El Bujeo 
This charming hotel is a beautiful example of traditional Andalusian architecture. The rooms are simply decorated and all feature heating, air conditioning, a TV, ensuite bathroom and internet access. 
There is also a nice patio and a small pool.

Hotel Tarik in Tarifa 
This small hotel is located just 10 minutes from the beach and the old town. The guestrooms all come with a TV, air conditioning / heating, private bathrooms and free internet connection.

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival at the Montera hotel (Los Barrios) and welcome from the local guide.

Overnight in Los Barrios

Day 2: Pontón del Caramelo
Today's route passes through the Green Corridor and the Las Cañas or Palmones River. Our destination for the day is the Caramelo Pontón, a wooden bridge used to cross the river. After some time relaxing by the river we head back to Los Barrios.
Our hike will cross typical landscape of the Los Alcornocales National Park.

Day 3: The Towers of Hercules
The route departs from the town of Los Barrios and leads you between forests and wetlands, overlooking the neighboring continent Africa and the colony of Gibraltar.
The ancient sailors called this route "The Towers of Hercules" as they believed the world ended between Gibraltar and Mount Musa in Africa.

Day 4: Land of Phoenicians
This coastal territory was populated by the Phoenicians, and the Romans took advantage of the settlement to install several factories of sea products. They also established a small colony that slowly grew into a rather important one back in the second century BC. We’ll hike from Punta Paloma through a pine forest along the Atlantic coast, enjoying splendid views of the African continent. The Atlantic coast of Tarifa mostly runs through fine sandy beach trails.

Day 5: Enchanted Forests
Today, the route does through the shady forests of the mountains of Algeciras and Tarifa. You will see a unique Laurel Tree Forest where you will find unusual forest formations of subtropical species.
Enjoy extraordinary views of the Strait of Gibraltar, the African Coast with the Jebel Musa in the foreground, Gibraltar, and the Malaga mountains.
As you walk, you will come across a strange grove of dwarf oak trees representative of the Fog Forest, very characteristic of this area.
Today's hike goes through one of the largest forest of the Iberian Peninsula.

Day 6: Colada de la Costa
La Colada de la Costa is a narrow path that follows a coastal livestock path and crosses the cliffs of Tarifa. The trail runs through coastal grasslands and areas of low scrub.
Today's highlights are the impressive views of the African continent and the geological formations of the cliff.
As it can be expected, given the geographical situation through which the path runs, it is common to find bunkers, old civil guard barracks and other surveillance and defense buildings.

Day 7: Buda Trail
The popular Ruta del Buda, in the surroundings of Tarifa, is a hiking route that runs through the Sierra, allowing you to have unbeatable views over the Strait of Gibraltar. If visibility is good, you can also see the entire North-African coast…passing through the wind farm, descending through a beautiful pine forest from which there are magnificent views of the Ojén Valley
