Riding Experience
This ride is designed for serious riders who want to discover the most complete possible grounds and scenery. This is achieved by using vehicle transportation (anywhere from 1-5 hours) only when strictly necessary due to the long distances involved between the riding bases. Riders are required to have an intermediate level of riding experience to attend this ride.

Horses
Costa Rican Criollo, Paso, and mixed breeds (Spanish, Andalusian & American Quarter). They range from 14 to 16 hands.

Children
The minimum age to join this ride is 12. Children are expected to have a the appropriate riding experience in order to join this ride. When booking a private ride, it might be possible to have children 11 or younger join us (subject to conditions).

Wildlife
Among the most commonly seen wildlife during the ride are: Opossums, Two-toed Sloth, Agouti, Armadillo, Pacas, Great Anteater, Kinkajou, Tayra, Margay cat (this is rare to catch with the eye but many riders have seen the fresh footprints) , Collared Peccary, White-tailed Deer, Poison-arrow Frogs, and the omnipresent capuchin and howler monkeys.

Birds that can be seen on this trail include: blue-crowned mot-mots, Guans, Trogons,  hummingbirds, Collared Aracari, Fiery-billed Aracari, American Egret, Great Tinamou, Turkey vulture, Long-billed Gnatwren, Chestnut-backed Ant-bird, Black-hooded Antshrike, Keel-billed Toucans, Anhinga, Jacanas, Pied-billed Grebes, Mexican Tiger-bitterns and Boat-billed Herons.

However, it is important to keep in mind that most of these animals are very shy and elusive so as soon as they hear horses approaching they will hide, especially when riders are talking! The days when we usually see more wildlife is on day 2, 3 and 4, precisely when riding on the farms and mountains adjacent to Carara National Park.
