Itinerary

DAY ONE (meals included: dinner)
A Rancho De La Osa representative will meet you at Tucson International Airport at 2:00 pm for your scenic road transfer out to the ranch. As you make your way towards Sasabe the hustle and bustle of city life will give way to open mountain views and vast desert vistas where numerous photo opportunities await - look out for Kitt Peak Observatory, home of the world's largest telescope; the legendary and sacred Baboquivari Peak, a 7,830 ft peak of solid granite with origins dating back more than 100 million years; as well as a variety of bird and animal life that call the Buenos Aires Wildlife Refuge home. On arrival at Rancho De La Osa you will be given a guided tour and introduction to this most historic property. A welcome margarita party in the cantina followed by a western cookout will provide everyone with the opportunity to get better acquainted.
DAY TWO (meals included: breakfast, lunch and dinner)
After a hearty breakfast in our 150 year old hacienda, you will be introduced to your wranglers and taken to the corrals to meet our herd of horses. You will spend the remainder of the morning participating in our Horsemanship 101 program where you will receive instruction and gain hands on experience in grooming, saddling, basic equine behaviors before moving to our outdoor arena for a group lesson on horseback. After lunch you will head out into the desert for a lengthy trail ride, which could include some loping depending upon the size and experience of the group. After returning back to the ranch feeling exhilarated, you may choose to enjoy the rest of your afternoon cooling down in the pool or relaxing in the hot tub before having a pre-dinner drink in the cantina, known as the “Old Adobe”.
DAY THREE (meals included: breakfast, lunch and dinner)
You will spend the first part of the morning working on your hand to eye co-ordination skills as you get to grips with learning basic roping techniques before moving into the arena for an introduction to barrel racing. By late morning you will be out in the desert once again for a lengthy horseback trail ride, this time taking a packed lunch with you. This 3 – 4 hour ride will allow you to explore deeper into the surrounding area and Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. As you ride across a Mesquite studded landscape and along dried out river washes you will get to practice riding at different paces, increasing and decreasing your speed as the terrain dictates. Following an eventful day in the saddle, you will get the opportunity to sit back, relax and admire the wonderful starry nighttime sky.
DAY FOUR (meals included: breakfast, lunch and dinner)
Your first task of the day will be to gather, groom and saddle your own horse before breakfast. And then, utilizing the skills you have learned in the previous two days, you will spend the morning working together as a team either rounding up or sorting cattle. After lunch you will get to test your proficiency and compete in barrel racing and other gymkhana games in the event finale, the COWGIRL CAMP DUDEO. After a special dinner and awards banquet you will have the opportunity to “kick up your heels” and learn a series of western dance moves in the cantina.
DAY FIVE (meals included: breakfast)
After your last breakfast together as a team, it will be time to bid a fond farewell to your trusted steeds, wranglers and Rancho De La Osa. Airport transfer departs the ranch at 9:00 am.

NB: The itinerary is there as a guide and may change due to unusual weather patterns, wildlife movements, the strength of the group and so on. We will do our very best to keep to the set itinerary, however we cannot be held responsible for any last minute changes that might occur. In all such circumstances, your wranglers will have the final say.
