neighboring Saquaro National Park West, the Lazy K offers guests serenity,
spectacular scenery and miles of protected desert terrain to explore.
Just sixteen miles northwest of Tucson, the Lazy K Bar
Guest Ranch nestles against the Tucson Mountains. You can gaze over the
vast Santa Cruz Valley. Experience life as a cowboy and feel the power of
your horse beneath you as you weave your way through glorious forests of
cacti. Or you can look with-in yourself for that unique inner peace and
strength only the Wild West can provide.
The Lazy K Bar is a well-rounded vacation destination
offering riding, swimming, tennis, hiking or relaxing - something for
everyone in the family. Guests also enjoy the ranch's spacious library
with numerous books and can meet before dinner at the ranch's Long Horn
Bar for a cocktail. While there are no televisions or telephones in the
rooms, there is a large-screen television in the main lodge. At the Lazy K
Bar you will enjoy home cooking, a family atmosphere, and the spectacular
Arizona desert.
There are a lot of singles and single parents
with children that are delighted with the no-hassle, safe environment the
ranch offers. The same attraction draws grandparents taking their
grandchildren on that memorable vacation.

and guided nature walks, nightly activities - cookouts, hayrides, country
western dancing, cowboy singer, Southwestern educational programs.

Note: Skeet shooting, private horseback riding lessons,
excursions to area attractions, golf at nearby courses - available at
extra fee.
Activities:

Horseback riding through mountain and desert country. Two rides
(slow and fast) twice a day, seven days a week. Weekly breakfast or
lunch rides go into Saguaro National ParkWest. Small groups
may make private arrangements to van out to surrounding mountain
ranges for riding excursions. The Lazy K features team penning, a
horse and cattle game which takes place in the arena. Riders of
various skill levels may participate and this event has generated
great enthusiasm. Moonlight and sunrise rides are also available at
an additional charge. Heated pool, two lighted tennis courts,
Jacuzzi, volleyball, horseshoe pitching, trap
shooting, shuffleboard, and basketball. Recreation room with
billiards, Ping-Pong, and shuffleboard table. Excellent golf in
Tucson, 20 minutes away.
Every Friday Night 7:30 pm - Under the Western Skies
you will experience an extraordinary, athletic event - $5 Adults, $3
Children.
Children's Horsemanship Camp:
The camp runs from mid-June to mid-July for children ages 10-16.
Coed. Each child has their own horse and learns to groom, saddle and
ride. During the week we'll do team penning, barrel racing and trail
rides. Riding lessons are daily. Program limited to 30 children per
week.
Entertainment:
Nature talks, team-drawn hayrides, square dancing, western
music, country/western dance lessons, TV room for viewing special
programs, rodeos in town. Team roping, calf roping, and barrel
racing exhibitions. Tucson evening entertainment within a 20 minute
drive.
Atmosphere:
The Lazy K Bar is a casual, relaxed ranch. The riding program geared
to individual ability with opportunities to increase your horse
knowledge. It is great for those who enjoy outdoor activities or
just relaxing in the fresh Arizona sunshine. A haven for
bird-watchers. Sunday excursions to the Sonoran Desert Museum. Other
points of interest include San Xavier Mission, Colossal Cave and the
Biosphere.

the ranch
Accommodations:
The original homestead building, built in 1933, serves as the main office. The
guest ranch operation started in 1936 with only six rooms, a small dining room
and horses to ride.
All of the Lazy K’s 23 guest rooms received a total renovation during the summer
of 1999. They are decorated in a southwestern motif that retains a real ranch
feel. Each casita contains two to four individual rooms, all with private
entrances. No room phone or television will disturb your peace.
Today the Lazy
K Bar Ranch has a total of 23 guest rooms. All are ground level, with private
entrance and private bath with tub/shower.
The standard rooms generally have two
extra long twin beds with a chair sleeper or one queen size bed.
The deluxe rooms can accommodate a family of 4 or 5. One king bed plus
a sofa sleeper/trundle bed or two queen beds plus a sofa sleeper.
There are four suites that consist of a bedroom with a king bed and a
living room with sofa sleeper and/or trundle bed to sleep 2 to 4 children. Each
suite has a fireplace and a private porch or patio.
Dining:
Hearty ranch-style meals served in lodge dining area. On Saturday night T-bone
steaks are mesquite broiled and served under the stars next to the ranch's
10-foot waterfall. Breakfast cooked to order, luncheon buffets, many great
Mexican dishes.
