Cathedral and Clifftops: Moylegrove to St Davids

Cathedral and Clifftops: Moylegrove to St Davids
Wales Wales
Known for its rugged beauty and ancient landscape, this stretch of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path begins in Moylegrove and continues along to the St Davids peninsula, home of the 12th century Cathedral dedicated to the patron Saint of Wales. The route passes through the delightful towns of Newport and Fishguard and around craggy Strumble Head to Porthgain and Abereiddy. Here you’ll find the extraordinary beauty of the Blue Lagoon – an abandoned slate quarry – now linked to the sea by a narrow channel.

The path continues around the coast to St David’s Head, home to an Iron Age coastal fortress, where noticeably fewer tourists populate the landscape. From this point breathtaking views of Ramsey Island – well known for its large and protected populations of marine wildlife – further enhance the scenery. Continuing south past Whitesands beach, coves and bays enrich the route, especially the rocky indentation of St Non’s bay.
