Enjoyed the most: The horses, our guide, the scenery, the meals were excellent.

Bothered you: Nothing about the trip.

Enjoyed the most: The excitement of riding deep into the Gila Wilderness and the feeling of remoteness once there. Living, sleeping and cooking outdoors, the feeling of being close with nature. Learning about those things from Joe, our guide and hearing his stories about past trips and the Apaches.

Bothered you: Saddle soreness! But who cares!

Comments: Everything was perfect, the Apache Ride was one of the best experiences of my life.

Enjoyed the most: The sharing of knowledge about the area and the Native American people who inhabited the Gila area from our guide. I also enjoyed meeting the other riders.

Enjoyed the most: The landscape!

Bothered by: Nothing!

Comments: Grand trip!

Enjoyed the most: Learning about the habits and lifestyle of early Apache indians that were originally from the Gila
Great trip very interesting and vey scenic lanscape.

Enjoyed the most:
I enjoyed the whole experience.  The Gila mountains are exquisite.  It was a true wilderness experience as we didn't see any other human beings for 4.5 days.  We were blessed with perfect weather.  Joe was the perfect host, a magician with a camp fire and cooking, and it was an honor to be able to talk to him about his heritage.

Bothered you:
Nothing.  Everything was perfect.

Comments:
My expectations were exceeded.  You can't really be prepared for a trip like this.  I think would be worth emphasising that this trip is at altitude - it starts at 6,000 feet and goes higher than 8,000 feet, and some people might find that difficult.  There is also no cell/mobile phone contact once you leave Silver City, which is brilliant, but was unexpected.
Joe's equipment list was slightly more comprehensive than the one in the Hidden Trails documentation.  It would have been good to have another pair of shoes to change into, and something to purify water. And a slighly warmer sleeping bag - it was near freezing at night on the mesa this time of year.
I started with bronchitis on this trip.  I would like to thank Joe for his care and for rummaging up some natural remedies for me while we were in the wilderness!
Enjoyed the most:
This was the most incredible experience i have ever had. The scenery was breathtaking. Riding up and down the side of the mountains was challenging at first but we learned to trust the horses and became better riders by the experience. The guide was very knowledgable and laid back, but was always there for us to answer our questions and help us through the difficult parts of adjusting to the wilderness. By the last day we felt like "naturals".

Bothered you:
Not being able to shower, but in the end I think it added to the experience.

Comments:
Being a sophisticated female I was disappointed in the fact of no normal sleeping quarters. But it became one of the most positive parts as you could look up and see millions of stars at night.
Even thought this was 5 days of intense experiences, I can't wait to go back next year.

Enjoyed the most
It is hard to say - the experience was out of this world.

There are no words to explain how I feel.
I must thank you and my guide Joe, for the time of my life trip, this was a once in a life time trip for me and I cant save quick enough for the next.

Enjoyed the most
The riding.

Bothered you
Sleeping on the ground with no foam. Every night I said, " I will never do this again". Laugh!
*HT NOTE: You must pack your own sleeping bag AND ground mats for this trip!

Comments:
It was a little more basic than the wagon trek I did the year before--a lot more hands on involvment for guests. I didn't carry my share but the other two guests filled in and seemed happy to do so.

Enjoyed the most
The scenary and the guide. The trip guide was extremely knowledgeable about the environment and culture of the area.  He runs a highly organized and high quality trip with good horses, food and equipment.  The is a beautiful diverse landscape of high desert, alpine, rivers and meadows with opportunities to view local wildlife.  The rides were challenging. You get the opportunity to do some real backcountry camping in an relatively untouristed part of the US.

Enjoyed the most

Nature, serenity and the solitude of the ride that included just the guide and my daughter besides me.

Bothered you

5-day trip was too short. Will definitely return for a longer ride next time.
