Enjoyed the most: To ride these really steep hills. At some point I realized that I trusted this horse with my life.

Bothered you: Nothing really. There was one day, when we rode on an easy trail for seven hours, it was cold and I was bored. But I guess thats more my own problem, not the problem of the trip.

Comments:
Neil and his Partner were lovely people and definitely good horse people! My horse Gunner was excellent and well suited to me and my level of skill while still being a challenge. The riding was likely the best I have ever had!
It was unfortunate that the weather was so bad. It meant that Neil was constantly having to rearrange the itinerary and I think that likely lead to some of the difficulties that we experienced.
The first camp we arrived at had been destroyed by the snow so we had to rebuild the whole camp. Thankfully I couldn't have asked for a nicer group to be with under the circumstances, we all pulled together and actually made the two days and nights that we were camping work.
The ride out and back to the ranch was likely the most challenging, beautiful and exciting ride I have every done! And the riding continued to be superlative for the rest of the trip. They then put us up at a bed and breakfast which was absolutely wonderful. And we needed that to get clean and dry and warm. I would not hesitate to go back to do a trip with Neil and his Partner.
Looking forward to my next trip!

Enjoyed the most: The comaraderie with other riders. The scenery. Talking to and listening to the Native American medicine man who accompanied us. The challenging riding in places. Learning some cowboy survival skills.

Bothered you: Nothing really, except worrying at times about the horses, but they all seemed ok. Had hoped to see northern lights but didnt.

Comments: Had a brilliant holiday it just went too quickly. Hope to do the High Plains Drifter Ride from the same ranch in the next couple of years, husband permitting.

Enjoyed the most: The nature

Bothered you: Nothing

Comments: It was a great trip!

Enjoyed the most: The ruggedness.

Bothered you: Nothing except it could have lasted even longer!

Comments: I highly recommend this host, guide, ranch, their awesome mountain horses, and beautiful scenery. The host and guide were awesome! Not only excellent horsemen but also they provided very stimulating camp fire conversation on a variety of subjects - books, history, geography, scotch, etc.

I loved my little horse. She is the closest thing that I'll ever have to having my own horse. I loved the solitude of the mountains and felt at peace. The comraderei of our group was very good and it fun to meet and spend time with others from different countries

The bruises are faded, the scratches are healed but the memories will never die

I am not sure what I expected but the ride was a dream come true occasionally rather scarey but thoroughly fulfilling. Neil and Ian was fabulous taking the very best care to meet all of our needs. There is nothing like eating over a camp fire especially when you don't have to cook it. Our safety was very important to them and they took all precautions if/when needed.

Enjoyed the most

It is really hard to pick one thing, so I would have to say it was the group I was with, including Neil, the owner and our guide. It was nice to be out in the wilds with other competent riders, who chipped in to do whatever had to be done to get the camp, horses, etc. setup or packed up or dinner or dishes, etc. with NO whining, just a lot of laughs. Also, the horses were absolutely amazing. I have never crossed so much water or gone over such rough terrain without any missteps. The tack was some of the best I have ever seen on a trip like this. The food was simple camp food, but tasty and filling. Sleeping under the stars...Great! The scenery was beyond beautiful and breath taking.

Bothered you

The trip ended too soon.

Hidden Trails website. I look at it a lot and dream of my next trip!

I think it is important to have the right kind of expectations for a trip like this. It is a camping trip into the wilderness. Once you leave the ranch you are committed. The riding days are long and tough. The food is simple, but filling. It is important that they understand any food allergies (or any foods you really won't eat) before leaving the ranch, as there is not any options once out on the trail. Although they did a great job meeting my needs like picking the blueberries out of the pancake mix, as I could not eat them.

The unforgettable hosts/guides: Undina, Niel, Robert, Paula wonderfully warm and welcoming. I greatly appreciated their generous guidance. Clients should be advised to ASK for their stories of business development, ranch building, horses’ personalities, locating trails and experiences.

Bothered you

Nothing bothered me. I enjoyed every minute including the rain.

My experience with Hidden Trails, Kananaskis Country, Moose Mountain Adventure Outfitters was exhilarating. The powerful horses enthusiastically “bushwhacked” and climbed up and down challenging trails. The mountain vistas were jaw-dropping awesome. I will always affectionately remember our group of 6 riders. The gourmet meals over camp fire and at the ranch house were deliriously delicious.
