Everything about our holiday was perfect. From the location, to the riding, to the accomodations and the food. I would certainly recommend this ride to others.

Bothered you: The weather: unfortunately, we did not have the usually Italian sunny and warm weather of May. But there is nothing one could do about it ! 

Comments: The service, the meals, the room and the people at the Chianti Riding School were great. The horses very also very nice and different, accommodating the needs of each rider.

Amenities are lacking in the bathrooms. Could have better soaps available. Possibly better/newer towels. Hard to find fault, though!

Probably the food. The food was fantastic. Had a wonderful time. The area is really beautiful. The riding was fun and the horses are well cared for.

The only thing I didn't like about the room was the heater was too hard to figure out so I was a bit cold a couple of nights at the start of the trip when the weather those days wasn't too good.

The area is really beautiful. About the riding, I was expecting lots of rolling hills and while there was lots of that, we also had some pretty steep uphills and downhills where we had to lead the horses down by foot.

I enjoyed the whole experience. The other guests were fantastic - we were lucky! The rooms were wonderful, the family was very knowledgeable, the horses were fun and the food was fantastic!

Sometimes the hills we rode were rather steep and that was a bit nerve-wracking, but that was the only thing that bothered me and I can't even say it really bothered me. That and that it was so quiet at night. I live in the country but we have insects and frogs making all kinds of noises... so if you prefer noisey you might consider bringing a white noise machine.

I really cannot say enough about how professional and knowledgeable Sadio and Donatella the hosts are. They love their horses and their land. Both would point out flowers, birds, wild boar, and give us naturalist and history lessons. I have already suggested THIS specific trip to two people who were looking for a riding trip in Europe!

Have taken other trips with Hidden Trails. Can't recommend this trip highly enough! The hosts could not have been more willing to please.  It was great to actually have Italian hosts in Italy!  A very charming and sincere family, very knowledgeable and kind. I had hoped for a very European experience and was not disappointed - this was my 5th trip to Italy and it could have been my first, it was so unique and refreshing!

I can't narrow it down to one thing - the place where we stayed was charming, the food, wine and olive oil were amazing! - our hosts, Donatella and Sadio along with Graziella and Roberta were so kind, warm, fun and personable and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable- the scenery on the trail rides was just like you would imagine it to be in Tuscany - the poppies were glorious, the acacia smelled heavenly - the acres and acres of olive trees and grape vines everywhere. The Italian people we met in the towns were so friendly - the horses were very well cared for and the owners had a very gentle and confident way of working with them. The horses put their hearts into carrying us along every day - thank you to Skyan! Loved their dog, Martino...ADORABLE! - also loved the cold beer in the fridge after a hot, hot day of riding! Thank you!!

The entire trip was fantastic. What did I enjoy the most? Excellent, well cared-for horses; beautiful scenery at the peak of spring blooming; comfortable, charming accommodations with the best food, and genuinely friendly hosts whose goal was our complete satisfaction.

I can't say enough about our hosts, Donatella and Sadio. Their riding centre is a one-of-a-kind facility. The comfortable centuries-old farmhouse served as the perfect gathering place for our group of six. All of the horses were well-suited for the job, and clearly well-loved. Each meal was more delicious than the last. Donatella and Sadio went out of their way to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. This trip was the perfect mix of riding and sight-seeing, with plenty of flexibility. This was my fifth riding trip, and it was definitely my favorite!

This trip exceeded my expectations, which were based on my experiences from four previous riding vacations.

This trip was PARADISE! It was every dream I ever had of Tuscany multiplied by 100. The accomodations were beyond charming. The scenery was stunning everywhere. The food was indescribably delicious, fresh and beautifully prepared. The horses were well-cared for, well-trained, and well-loved. Our destinations were varied and interesting. Most of all, Donatella and Sadio were the perfect hosts: Gracious, informative, and fun (and Donatella was helpful with my Italian). I can't say enough wonderful things about this trip.

I had only a few very minor complaints. The window screens didn't cover the entire window, which meant critters tended to fly and crawl in when windows were open. The towels in the bathroom had a strange smell to them (as if they were stored with some very strong herbal sachet). The bathroom really needed a better supply of soap (we just had one pump bottle of hand soap for the shower and sink).

Some of the english saddles were very uncomfortable (too short -my crotch was really sore and it wasn't just me, but all 4 of us). It would also be nice if they had half chaps to borrow, I don't have any because I normally ride western.

I had a fabulous time. The hosts were wonderful and took very good care of us. I loved the house, and the garden, and the peaceful setting. The wine tasting was really fun too.

Comment from Hidden Trails partner in Italy:
"all the saddles are Kieffer or Appaloosa Prestige and there are many shorts chaps and helmets available - Phoebe refused both and of course 6 hours in the saddle with jeans can be difficult ...."

Enjoyed the most: Riding Jup through the countryside.

Bothered you: I was ill with balance problems at the start of the ride and I hated to have Donatella (who was very nice about it) accommodate me -- I never want to make problems.

Comments: Ryan and Lauren of Hidden Trails were so patient and helpful. You are very lucky to have them! The riding center was so beautiful, with gorgeous countryside (very unpopulated) in every direction and wonderful horses.  The rooms in the house were lovely and Donatella and Sadio were charming, gracious hosts.  Flavio was very helpful and nice, the cooking by Gioia was truly outstanding, and everyone at the center tried to make your stay as enjoyable and carefree as possible.  The ride was even nicer than I thought it would be!
