Enjoyed the most: Everything was great. OK it rained one day, but even that day was fun. The Italian country side looked beautiful in the mist and we went through a forest with wild flowers covering bright green moss.

Bothered you: I should have done the single supplement. My friend snored.

I loved riding through the country side on the back roads and in the fields. I also very much enjoyed staying at the agritourismos .It was wonderful meeting the owners and seeing their working farms.

Bothered you: I would have liked it if we could have changed the order of the horses when riding each day. It would have been nice to be at the end of the line-up for a day, or at the front of the line-up for a day.

I was very pleased to see that the owners took such good care off of f their horses. They exhibited constant concern for the health and well-being of each horse and didn't treat them as commodities to just facilitate their business. This was a relief to me, as I am very sensitive to the treatment of horses and have ridden (in the past) at places where the horses were not fed or treated well. Keep up the good work!

Enjoyed the most: The horse partnership during the week; good times with a great group of people; the memories made on such a terrific trip

Bothered you: Absolutely nothing about this trip bothered me

Comments: Ranks as one of my favorite trips of my life.  The hosts and guides in Italy were very gracious and charming, the accommodations and meals were top notch.  The horse I rode was the perfect gentleman.  The terrain and pace were fine and the sights were breathtaking.  Horseback riding in Italy exceeded my expectations

Enjoyed the most: The experience of seeing everything so close up and learning about a new culture.

Bothered you: Nothing

Comments: It was our honeymoon, and we could not have been more pleased. We were treated so well by everyone. The tour guide was fantastic and the country was spectacular.

Enjoyed the most: Our guide and his wife were exceptional. He was extremely knowledgable about the area, it's history, culture, etc. The accommodations were charming!

Bothered you: Every meal we ate in a restaurant was fabulous and our guide took great care to order wonderful locale fare and excellent wines. We did stay in one charming castle where the accommodations were great but the food was lacking. That would be my only comment.

Comments: This trip was fabulous! For the most part, my expectations were exceeded. The service provided by our guide and his wife was amazing.

Enjoyed the most: Oh my, certainly riding through the medievil villages. I was worried, but he led us on with confidence in himself and the horses. Wow what a thrill!

Bothered you: Really my inexperience as a rider bothered me the most. I got better though!

Comments: I feel we were VERY fortunate to have Michaele as our guide. He is a very experienced horseman and the animals seemed well taken care of and confident in his care. He was extremely knowledgeable about all the surroundings as well as educating us on the food and wines of Tuscany!

Enjoyed the most: The ride each day, lots of variety.

Bothered you: A few of the meals, otherwise, all our other meals were wonderful!

Comments: Michele and his horses were great. He did an excellent job of matching horse to rider. Very knowledgable about Italy and what we saw.

Our guide was wonderful - very caring of the horses. He also gave us very complete answers to our many questions, as well as information about what we were seeing. The accomodations were superb, as were the meals.

Bothered you
That the ride is in the past! It was so great!

Enjoyed the most: The beautiful hotels, the etruscan ways, the picnics and the entire group from Cristina that made it possible to make this ride!

Bothered you: To me the pace of the trail was too slow. I did a lot of trails in the past and I know a trail consists of a lot of walking which is fine. But on this trail we did only very slow trotting and there were only a few cantering parts which were nice but also short.

Our guide, Jochen Strobel, made our trip special. Since my daughter & I were the only 2 riders, it was like a private tour of Tuscany, meeting locals and enjoying real Italian culture. The owners of the castles were so friendly and gave us amazing tours of their homes which was so unexpected.

Bothered you
Absolutely nothing!! It was the most relaxed, enjoyable time we have ever had. Jochen always had the horses tacked and ready, we rode at our own pace (which he said made the days much faster & shorter), 3 meals a day were always wonderful, and days with him were full of interesting history, funny stories, and good times.

We really appreciated the ride going on with just the 2 of us. Jochen is apparently not the usual guide, but we felt lucky he was there for us. He has his own farm with 25 horses he breeds, trains and sells. He spent a lot of time thinking how he could make the trip even better. We actually did not stay at the Sorano Fortress, but at Hotel e Benessere in Maremma 2 nights. This was an unexected plus. It was like a beautiful bed & breakfast that included a spa and a natural hot springs in a beautiful building. The waterfall and jets in the springs eased all our third day riding aches and pains. What a nice surprise!! If you ever need another guide in this region, we highly recommend Jochen Strobel.

Villages & fortresses. Countryside. We liked our guide, but he did not know the trails.

Bothered you:
The unexpected change in guide and schedule.

Michael Minore 5/23/2009

Enjoyed the most:
The riding and the area.

Bothered you:
The food and the lack of information about the places we visited.

Comments:
We needed more historical and current information about the area we were riding in.  The tour guide was very accomodating, however this was his first ride.

Irene Lipetsker 5/21/2009

Enjoyed the most:
Sleeping in REAL castles and the breed of horse i got to ride.

Bothered you:
Food quality was so so.  I wasn't fond of the food.

Comments:
By sheer luck, I got to ride a Lipizzaner horse and that just made the trip for me!  The guide did a great job matching horses to riders.  My mom, who went with me, got a pure Arabian.  Everyone was happy.  Horse and Castles exceeded my expectations.  Tack was english, uncomfortable for long rides, but that was advertised ahead of time!
