Enjoyed the most

Our guide was wonderful. And the cook who planned our lunches and transported our luggage was incredible. The horses were great. The lunches were awesome.

Bothered you

Being misled about the upgraded accommodations. I chose to upgrade my accommodations for first and last night.  However, the accommodations described in the trip brochure was inaccurate.  The "upgraded" accommodations were not what was described in the information given to me.  We actually chose not to go back to the "upgrade" on the last night.  If I had known what the "upgrade" was like I would have never paid the extra money to stay there.  I would have stayed at the "lesser" accommodation and saved some money.

Comments

This was my second Hidden Trails trip. Would consider another trip.

My horse, canters on the mud flats.

A couple of mornings we only had bread, jam and coffee/tea for breakfast. As an American, I'm used to something a little more substantial for breakfast especially when I'm going to be on a horse for a number of hours. Some protein would have been good, we had delicious cheese at almost every other meal. Providing some cheese or yogurt would have provided a few more "stick to your stomach" options.

Comments

Didier, the guide was fantastic!

Enjoyed the most

The scenery was spectacular!

Bothered you

Slower ride than I anticipated exacerbated by one rider.

Comments

We had a person on the ride who was not at the skill level that was needed and purported in the ride guide. This made it difficult to exercise all of the canters and gallops on the beach. Disappointing.

Enjoyed the most

The diverse countryside. The trip was very well planned that way. Some easy, some challenging. Our 2 guides and cook really made the trip exceptional.

Bothered you

Ha! It was not near long enough.

The ride on the beach

Bothered you:

The four American women [that was in the same tour date I went to] who complained constantly.

Viewing the countryside on horseback.

Bothered:
Unfortunately we lost the last day of riding due to bad thunderstorms.
It was the prudent to be safe.

enjoyed:
Our guide, Paul was excellent. The food was outstanding.

Other Comments:
As mentioned below, this ride is very relaxing. The horses do have a "herd" mentality, so one should be prepared to do whatever the rest of the herd is doing. This can be a good and bad thing. I had the "pleasure" of riding with a bosal. No brakes and steering was optional! The horses were all willing and very sound. The guides were very good at matching the horse to the rider.

Compared to other rides we have taken, this one was quite relaxing. There is a lot of walking and trotting, only a few aggressive runs. The scenery was beautiful and the meals over the top delicious. The south of France is lovely. The people are friendly and welcoming.
It can't be stressed enough for anyone taking this ride to make sure they pack bug repellent. The mosquitoes in the marshes are very aggressive.
Over all I would recommend the ride.

Scenery, making new friends, gallop thru the Camargue

Bothered you
Rain, which you can't do anything about!

Comments
My last riding vacation was 22 years ago. I trained hard for this trip and was happy that I was able to keep up with the youngsters (I am 57). Thought this would be my last trip but may do another if the body holds up. Our guide Bruno was very patient and knowledgeable. Host Didier and staff and other hosts were very gracious and warm. Laughed slot!
Had taken many trips thru Fits Equestrians

Scenery was beautiful, enjoyed speaking French to the others (only one other American in the group). Liked seeing the castles and old buildings and seeing the farming methods and crops.

Bothered you
No time to ourselves, little time to shop or browse.

Maureen Engel 5/31/2009

Enjoyed the most:
Galloping flat out on the beach in the Camargue.

Bothered you:
The rain (out of your contol) & going home!

Comments:
Excellent, knowledgeable, friendly guide. Great meals & hosts @ all accommodations. Safe, forward going horses. The perfect balance of hours of riding and speed + rest stops @ lunch & overnight.
Wish I'd found Hidden Trails sooner.
