Enjoyed the most
The second part in the nationalpark of cotopaxi, riding on soft ground with a fantastic flowers carpet. Our fantastic guide Santiago, the very well educated horses, which are changed in the middle of the week, so we had fresh horses all week long, our wonderful companheros from US (if you could book "other riders" you should choose these two.) Possibility for long canters in the Nationalpark.

Bothered you
The picnic, generally good, but everday the same (bread, ham, cheese) besides, that we forgot twice even some of the stuff (so it was only bread and cheese). The very poor and dirty area in we were riding in the first two days through a lot of small villages (especially the first day).

Comments
We booked alreay Peru, Arizona and Costa Rica with you and found it very helpful to have a reliable partner for riding holidays abroad.

Equipment is very well maintained, Accommendations are amazing, this colonial-style haziendas were awesome, the meals in the restaurant very good, while the very day same picnic for lunch sometimes a bit boring. Santiago our guide was fantastic, not just a very good horse man but also a fantastic entertainer, listener, storyteller, problem-solver. Never saw such a professional guide on a riding trek. You see a lot of very bad riding stables with poor horses in Ecador, so the right choice is very important.

Enjoyed the most:
Galloping at 13,800 feet!

Bothered you:
Things that couldn't be controlled, namely the weather and action of the government.
HT Note: Unexpected announcement that Ecuador's "Census Day" will halt all travel in the country for a day! :(

Comments:
Best ride ever!

Enjoyed the most: Being able to see parts of the country not readily accessible!
Gregory Haley 9/20/2009

Enjoyed the most: The scenery, the mountainous views from horseback. The fact that we actually "went somewhere" using the horses rather than just circuitous trail rides.

Bothered you: My knees.....and that was no ones fault but osteo.

Comments: It could not possibly have been better in every aspect.  It surpassed all my expectations!

James Meadows 9/8/2009

Enjoyed the most: The ride went through some truly amazing landscapes. I felt like an explorer in the mountains.

Bothered you: I was not prepared for the physicality of the ride.

Comments: I highly recommend them.  I would definitely do another tour with this operation.  Everything was pretty much as I expected, except that she even had some extra things planned that went beyond my expectations.  She took us to see some ancient Inca sites, and some beautiful haciendas.

Enjoyed the most: The stunning scenery, the lovely and hospital haciendas, Sally desderves special kudos and cantering the the altiplanes of Cotopaxi with wild horse bands.

Bothered you: The Quito hotel.

Comments: The accomodations and variety of cultural side trips were excellent.  My only critticism was that the hotel in Quito was extemely noisy - as in boombox  salsa beat which had my room vibrating.  Sally was outstanding in her care of horses and quests.

Enjoyed the most: Staying in 17th century haciendas and riding with the wild horses in Cotopaxi National Park.

Bothered you: Nothing bothered me...though it might have been a bit more comfy if some of the hacienda's had reliable hot water.... but what can one expect from a 17th c. building?

Comments: This was my first riding trip/tour and it won't be my last. Sally's pleasant disposition and attention to detail as well as her excellent crew and fabulous horses made this trip seamless to us. Scenery was breathtaking and the riding was exhilarating... I will return for another trip!

Enjoyed the most: All aspects!

Comments: South America is a very interesting destination that often gets overlooked in favor of Europe.  A really great trip. Probably the best of the four or so I've booked through H.T.

Enjoyed the most: 1) The incredible beauty and decor of the Hacienda's. They exceeded any expectations I could have had. 2) The scenery; Volcanoes and mountains all around. Breathtaking. All n' all, a great trip!

Comments: The accommodations were outstanding; the best of any trip we've taken yet. The Haciendas were magnificent each with it's own atmosphere and charm.  The meals were excellent.  They were able to provide food for everyone's unique tasks.  The horses were a lot of fun with good temperaments.  The riding was nice with spectacular scenery in the Andes.  Our riding ranged from 3 hrs. on the first day, 4 hours on days 2-4, and 5-6 hours on days 5-7.  Nice long canters, good trots; both over varied terrain.
