Enjoyed the most
The lovely sceneries, wheat fields, sunflower fields, corn fields and open fields with multi-colour flowers, which offer many opportunities for long canters, varied landscape with forests, rivers, lakes and abundance of plum trees along the trails which offer us refreshments along the way. I am very pleased with my horse which I trust totally for canters/gallops, crossing rivers and steep climbs and descends. Our group also appreciate very much the company of Maria and Vosko, our guide and logistic facilitator who tried very hard to make our holiday an enjoyable and memorable one.
Bothered you
Nothing really, except that I felt bad for the riders who experienced water supply problems at one hotel (not common and only an isolated incident).
Enjoyed the mostThe crew was first class. The combination of sightseeing and riding was refreshing. The terrain and the pace made it a really great ride.
Bothered youNothing
Enjoyed the mostI think the crew was truly exceptional. I'd add that the mix of riding and sightseeing was a great idea.
Bothered youNothing bothered me...CommentsFantastic trip. The horses are first class as well as the tack. The itinerary and the mix of riding with sightseeing made it all the more pleasurable. The guide and the support were excellent beyond words. The food both on trail and in the hotels was great. A truly memorable vacation. Beyond expectations!
Enjoyed the mostWaterfalls. The nature. Cantoring over the fields. That there is no trails in Bulgaria, we could cantor and galop side by side freely. The lunches in the fields.
Bothered youToo difficult to order at the restaurants. The rain....
CommentsWe are not "horsepeople", but natur and adventure-"people", so might not go horseback riding soon. But I would recommend This special trip with Alex' family to all my freinds that are the same "type of people" as us.
Enjoyed the most: The connection with the family
Bothered you: The flies and the austrian airlines lost my suitcase!
Comments: Me and my son had the ride of our lives!
Enjoyed the most: The long gallops, the wine and the friendly atmosphere. Our hosts were great. we felt at home from the first gallop, their care and hospitality made this week magical.
Bothered you: Nothing.
Comments: Open spaces, hot wind and numerous fruit trees. "Rumia" was waiting for us and from the beginning there was the notion that this is going to be great. we were taken to a short visit in the center of Sofia and than after joining with the other group members – Sharon and his sun Alon (from Israel) and Ann-Clair and Sandru (from Switzerland) we were taken by car to the first hotel – in the middle of no where some 2 hours driving from Sofia. The hotel, like all the others was simple and very clean. It even had a pool but it was starting to get cold so we did not dive in it. Over dinner we got to know each other and discussed the future days plan. Rumia made a thorough investigation regarding our riding ability and decided on which horse should we mount the next day. After a good sleep – no car sounds no civilization sounds, we woke up and went to visit an ancient renovated Bulgarian village which was beautiful and from there to meet the horses. I must say that the matches were perfect. We all got our horses and found them fit to our riding skills till the end. No one asked to switch his horse. Yam got Apache – a relatively small, but surprisingly agile and strong runner as was shown later when we galloped along the meadows. Mine was Mozart – a young horse but very sensitive and fast. From that point we started a long and fast riding. Our guide was Alex – Rumias husband. Alex is what I would call a Bulgarian Indian. This guy knows his horses, he is their veterinarian, and he takes care of the horse shoes and knows well his way.His English is perfect and he tells great jokes along the way. With a big Machete he rode in front, cutting the ever-growing canopy to make way for us in the thick Bulgarian bush. We rode along endless fields, and galloped for longer distances in beautiful long and empty fields. The riding was hard but the kids did well and Alex was surprised from their riding skills and from their durability – so they won more gallops and that made every body happy. I must say it was a travel through time also. Small villages, fruit trees loaded with pruns, apples and pears (we ate all the time) and riding along deserted paths with out seeing any human for hours. All along we were embraced by Alex, Rumia and their kids who participated in the efforts of making this trip a success. Their warm hospitality impressed us so although we did not know Bulgarian we felt at home immediately. The food was very good and there was plenty of it. So, after 170 Km of strenuous riding – in the sun in the rain, in the mountains and along the platform. After visiting hidden caves and waterfalls and drinking and eating 24/7 we were on the way back to the airport. It was a great vacation and i highly reccomend this trip to every horse riding lovers. We are thinking of doing it again.
