Day 1
Walking Distance 2 miles (3.2 km)
You will be met with a warm welcome at the Park House Hotel in central Galway City We then head south to the pretty thatched-cottage village of Adare in County Limerick.
We will take a short walk around the grounds of Adare Manor and back via the Augustinian Friary and along by the River Maigue.
Day 2
Walking Distance 6 miles (9.7 km)
We will drive to Glenbeigh on the ring of Kerry, Co. Kerry. Our walk today will be part of the long distance waymarked route "The Kerry Way". A short, steep ascent will bring us to look out across to the Dingle Peninsula. We will walk along the ridge and down into some quiet country lanes, eventually ending up on the pebble sea shore.
Our accommodation is a wonderful family run hotel located on the edge of the Ring of Kerry with magnificent views of the sea. We will spend three nights here enjoying the friendly atmosphere, fine views, excellent hiking and wonderful meals.
Day 3
Walking Distance 7 miles (11.3 km)
Today we walk from Derrynane House, the home of Daniel O'Connell (Ireland's 19th century campaigner for Catholic Emancipation). Our walk will start in the beautiful landscaped grounds of the house, then we travel along lovely quiet beaches and out on to Abbey Island.
We then head up along an ancient Mass Path through "nature's rockery" - old red sandstone laden with the most awesome display of Kerry flora: montbretia, fuchhsia, purple loosestrife, and honeysuckle. We then return to Derrynane via part of the Kerry Way.
Day 4
Walking Distance 8 miles (12.9 km)
Today our walking route takes us up on to Eagle Mountain and the "Windy Gap". We walk directly from the hotel and join the Kerry Way trail to a gap in the mountains where we cut through to Lough Currane near the town of Waterville. There are amazing vistas across the Kenmare inlet toward the Beara Peninsula in County Cork.
This route guides us along fuchsia-lined lanes, green roads and ancient tracks. We will finish with some well earned refreshment in Waterville.
Day 5
Walking Distance 9 miles (14.5 km)
Today we'll walk the Old Kenmare Road to Killarney via Torc Waterfall. This ancient track will take you through beautiful open heathland in the Black Valley and cuts through some of the best scenery in Kerry. We then travel on to Cashel in County Tipperary. Tonight we can enjoy a show at the Bru Boru Centre including traditional Irish Step Dancing, songs and music.
Day 6
Walking Distance 6 miles (9.7 km)
Before we leave Cashel this morning we can enjoy the magnificent St Patrick's Rock with a guided tour. We then head east to County Wicklow and the Wicklow Mountains. Our accommodation is set in lovely countryside scenery. On arrival we will walk over the moors of Trooperstown Hill, then follow the winding Avonmore River on a beautiful pathway through native forest.
Day 7
Walking Distance 7 miles (11.3 km)
The Wicklow Mountains are the location of our walk today. Our local expert guide, Christopher Stacey will begin at the point where we finished yesterday. He'll tell us all about the ancient monastic ruins of Glendalough and the story of St Kevin.
We will walk along the Spink (a dramatic cliff edge with lovely views over the two lakes) then down into the Glenealo Valley finishing alongside the Upper Lake.
Day 8 Transfer to the Dublin airport.
