Introduction
Campania Italy
Romans and Greeks were there before the growing of the Baroque Palaces and Churches of Spacca Napoli. The biggest artists were all attracted by the charms of Naples, since the early ages to the Romantic period. Since ever the city and its surroundings fascinated every traveler whit its artistic treasures as well as its lovely climate and the beauty of the nature around. In contrast with this ‘dolce vita’, the eruptions of the Vesuvius, the volcanic manifestations on the Phlegrean Fields and the frequent earthquakes fomented the people faith in the proximity of the death’s world and in the Gods. The rage of the volcano gave us also Pompeii, unique evidence buried under ashes since 79 D.C.
Going southward we find Amalfi, whose maximum splendor goes to the X and XI centuries, when it became the first Sailor Republic in Italy playing a great role in the commerce with Orient and transporting crusaders. This link with the Arab-Byzantine world is even more clear when wandering up and down along the labyrinth of white roads in Atrani. Enchanted by the lovely climate and the beauty of nature, many artists and princes have built here their sumptuous villas, especially in Ravello. As an extension of the peninsula there is the island of Capri which delights us with its beauty. Here too we find huge villas by artists and princes, surrounded by pine-trees, whereas Carthusian monks retired on the slope of Mount Solaro, the highest point of the island.
This is a tour not to be missed: during one week you will discover not only Naples and Pompeii, but also the routes of the Amalfi’s Coast, from Ravello to Positano, and two Mediterranean islands, jewels of Naples’ Bay: Procida and Capri.

Seasons
The Mediterranean climate of southern Italy is milder and sunnier than the north, with Naples being characterized by dry summers and wet autumns and winters. Summer gets usually hot but fresh air from the sea makes the heat bearable.
April to June and September to October is usually warm to mild with only a few rainfall, making those ideal times to visit.

What To Bring:
LUGGAGE
You need to divide your luggage into two bags: 1 travelling bag with a padlock and 1 knapsack.
Knapsack : 30 - 40 L
This is your hand luggage if you travel by air and the bag to take during the trekking. We suggest you
to put inside heavy and fragile things and all you need during the flight like camera, a book, a jacket,
personal toilet and medicines, but before it check details with your flight companies. Do not forget to
put every cutting object in the travel bag.
The knapsack will be spacious enough to contain all you need for the daily stage (max 10 kg). If you
are on a group tour, every day your guide will suggest you what to take for the day after.
Travelling bag : 70 - 80 L
This is your main luggage which will contain everything you do not need during daily stages. This bag
will be carried from the private bus to your next hotel. Its weight will be maximum 15/20 kg; we kindly
ask you to respect this weight limit.

CLOTHES
You will need a hat: it protects you from 70% of sun rays that hit you on head and neck, better with a
10 cm brim, as to protect also ears, nose face and neck. It is particularly important for children to avoid
sunstrokes.
Singlet, shirts, blouses, sweaters, wind cheater jackets (Gore-Tex), linen or cloth trousers, ideal for
walking, shorts, cotton socks, bathing costume. For tours from January to April, and from October to
December, take warm clothes.
Finally you will need trekking shoes (with a good strength in ankle and antiskid sole as Vibram type),
tennis or sandals for evening.

ACCESSORIES
Sunglasses, sunscreen, a big water-bottle (2 litres) with spout, Swiss knife (or similar), bag for packet
lunch, personal toilet kit, hygienic paper, a trash bag for litter and for protecting your things inside the
knapsack.
Sunglasses with good protection are extremely important and we suggest you to dress them often.

PERSONAL MEDICINE-CASE
Take with you your usual medicines for pain (aspirin and anti-inflammatory), elastic adhesive bands
(Elastoplast), adhesive plasters and disinfectant, protection for blisters.

MEDICAL VISIT
To be healthy is essential for fully enjoying your vacation with Verde Natura! If some times have passed
since you did not have seen your doctor, this is the right occasion to go, explaining the type of travel
you are going to do, the altitude, difficulty and climate, in order to leave in absolute tranquillity.
Maybe also a visit to the dentist could be useful.
We do not recommend this tour to person with problem of vertigo and heart. This because there are
high difference in level, positive and negative, and the path is often exposed and overhanging into
the sea.
You don’t need any vaccination. We advise you to check the validity of the tetanus injection and to
make it in case it is expired
