Any other 'lone travelers' interested in traveling together this summer (2009)??

Hi!  I'm a 40-something female who loves the outdoors and adventure and has done several riding trips in the past.  The problem is, I never have anyone to enjoy them with since my friends who own horses never have any $$!  To date I've been VERY lucky and have wound up on trips where I met some great, interesting people--but not sure how much longer my luck will hold out!

So, am looking to find other 'lone travelers' w/similar interests to vaca with.  I am a low intermediate-to-intermediate level rider (I think) and am interested in doing any ONE of several HT rides this summer (2009) including either:  the Banff Lodge to Lodge Ride in Alberata Canada, the Gila pack (tent) ride in New Mexico, the Green Mtn (Spa) in Vermont OR especially this one; the Colorado Springs Lodge to Lodge ride.

SO, am traveling from outside of Philly, PA--anyone else going my way?  We don't need to be roomies, but would like to have someone to dine w/in case the group is cliquish (yuk!) and maybe to fly out/travel with, if you're also on the East coast.

I've already called HT to find out good weeks for each of these trips (e.g. which weeks have more singletons vs. families & couples).

Looking forward to hearing from you!  Don't be shy--maybe we can even russle up a GROUP of strangers to go the same week!

    Sincerely, Geri

Hi there Geri, I am a lone traveler like you and looking to fine somebody to travel with that has the same interests like me. It's funny that the rides that your looking at are some of the ones that I have been looking at. In May 5th ----11th I am go to Colorado on a horse drive. www.sombrero.com/CustomPages/horse_drive.asp Then in August 17th----25th I am going to Alberta Canada (Banff) http://www.horseback.com/specialty.html look under Specialty/trip. I am booked on the Mountain Photography Trip. I was looking to go on a ride some time in June/July. Let me know what you think hope to hear from you. De.

    Hi Geri

I'm also a 40-something female but I'm re-living my youth by getting back into the saddle.

I've also been on several riding trips alone (Europe only - I'm from England) and like yourself got lucky with the company

However this summer I'm really into the idea of taking myself out of my comfort zone and doing a Canadian Pack Trip.
I noticed from your list you're interested in a similar trip and I'll check out the one you've mentioned  -  I've been looking at the two week combo at Tsylos Park Lodge in British Columbia - they have a great movie on there web site it's just beautiful.

It would be great to hook up with someone who's into the same trip rather than go it alone

look forward to hearing from you

    Kind Regards

    Nina

Hi all....  I am a 40-something male who has vacation time this year. I just started to learn how to ride and am pretty "green"..  Currently, I learning dressage so I can learn more about horses.  I've always wanted to trail ride but am not the type to just show up and jump on a horse like a lot of others.  I really want to get into riding.  I would love to join a bunch of strangers on a trip but am not sure if my level will be up to most and I hate slowing people down.  If anyone out there thinks I'd be a good riding buddy, let me know.

I live in NJ near McGuire AFB......  Am willing to travel anywhere as long as I am at the level required for THAT trip.

    Geri-

Sorry I didn't get to post earlier. I haven't been riding much in the last couple of years. Used to take riding vacations with spouse and now I need new riding buddies. Loved riding in Ireland but want to travel to places I've never seen before. If no buddies available, will definitely do one solo.

I live in Southern California and prefer rides outside the country. Would consider other states if rides look good though. Had been riding regularly for awhile but need to get back into saddle again to build up stamina. Want to do cross country or inn-to-inn.

Hello there.  Reading the comments I see a few people interested this summer in several of the same riding trips I have been considering for summer 2010. Did any of you end up taking trips to BC and what can you tell me about the trips?  Are any of you planning to return next year for another trip?  I've been a recreational rider for years, just for fun.  Been riding alone for a long time and am now planning to join some other riders for some company.

    Hi Geri,

I'm a 28 year old female from Germany travelling in the US at the time being. I was thinking about going to the Vermont Equestrian clinic for 5 days from this upcoming Sunday or preferably Sunday in a week. I would love to share a room since hiddentrails offers the special 2 for 1, so we could half the price. In case you are interested I would love to hear from you! Christine, PS. my email is lararosa@gmx.de
