Switzerland - Riding in the Swiss Alps

My husband and I experienced the incredible Hidden Trails three-day Swiss Alps ride in late August of 2004. This ride allowed us to experience the wonderful people who live in the Swiss Alps, the local food and the breathtaking panoramic views of the Alps. The San Jon Stable is a professional stable, nestled in the foothills of the Alps, in the picturesque village of Scuol. One could tell that the horses were very well cared for and the tack was in excellent condition. The staff took pride in their horses and knew the history of each horse. My horse was a mare named Pina and she was exceptional. Ueli, our wonderful guide, took great care of us and our horses. The Freiberger horses are the Swiss breed and were exceptional for trekking. They were steady, sure-footed and comfortable to ride. The riding days were long, but at a pleasant pace, which allowed us to take in the exquisite view in all directions. A novice would feel secure on this ride. We rode through fairy tale villages, complete with flower boxes in every window, climbed through glaciers to the summit of mountains to experience the panoramic views of the Alps and rode through exquisite valleys, complete with the echoing bells from the Swiss cattle. We spend the nights in warm and comfortable Swiss chalets, ate delectable Swiss meals and shared stories with hospitable Swiss residents. I highly recommend this trip! It was truly an experience of a life time and it was as close to heaven on earth as one could possibly be.
